The Platform

Fighting for Western Mass

These are the issues I will champion in the State Senate to make our communities stronger and more prosperous.

The Audit

Two years ago, 72% of Bay Staters asked the legislature for transparency — but the Democrat supermajority isn't interested. It's time we sent someone to Beacon Hill who embodies and enacts the will of the people.

Cost of Living

Massachusetts becomes more affordable when we lower taxes, not raise them. We can't paper over 400% increases in energy bills with 25% discounts — you and I know better.

Jobs

The 'Millionaires Tax' is driving businesses out of state. We need to welcome jobs to Massachusetts, not drive them away — and that starts with rebuilding our tax structure.

Housing

Right to Shelter means Massachusetts families. We need to cut the red tape holding up Western Mass construction, not pay Boston hotel bills for migrants.

Education

We need to boost vocational education and stop funneling every high school grad toward a degree. Massachusetts has fallen behind Mississippi in Grade 4 Reading — we must raise our floor.

Sanctuary Policies

We owe it to hard-working legal immigrants to show no tolerance for anyone cutting the line. If you're here illegally and choose to be a criminal, we cannot shield you from justice.

Freedom & Independence

From dangerous battery mandates to the 'Freedom to Move' Act to the Menthol Ban, Beacon Hill has been overreaching for too long. We need to restore the Spirit of America.

Common Sense Politics

I'm a moderate Republican who grew up with strong Democrats — I know how to reach across the aisle. Folks care more about getting things done than Red or Blue.

About the Candidate

Meet Nick Boonstra

Growing up in Leominster, Nick's family was hit hard by the 2008 crash. Without a car, they relied on taxis - and Nick dreamed of being a cab driver himself one day. His family's struggles taught him what it takes for real people to get by in the real world.

Nick worked his way through college, paying his own tuition at UMass Lowell and graduating with a degree in Journalism. His career began right here in Palmer, covering local news for Turley Publications - planning boards, library events, business openings. He saw firsthand how things really get done at the local level.

Today, Nick lives out that childhood dream driving for Lyft across every corner of the Commonwealth. He's had unforgettable conversations with the people who make Massachusetts great. One thing he knows for sure: We may not all share the same political party, but we all want what's best for our friends, families, and state.

Now Nick is running to represent the Hampden, Hampshire & Worcester district. He knows what everyday Bay Staters care about because he is one - whether grabbing a pint at Tailgate or standing in the State House. Western Massachusetts deserves better from Beacon Hill, and Nick intends to deliver.
